Hi y’all! Have you ever realized last minute that you forgot a card to put the gift card in? I have! (Many times.) So, today I am going to show you how to make an envelope for gift cards…that can also be used as a greeting card!
I created these envelopes at Christmas, but, you can easily use them all year round. Simply choose a color of paper to match the special occasion or holiday!
You can also use these steps to make a larger envelope for greeting cards by simply changing the paper size. (For example: instead of cutting an 8.5″ x 11″ piece in half use either 3/4″ of it ,or, the entire piece.)
What you need:

Materials:
- 8.5″ x 11″ Sheet Of Paper. (One sheet makes 2 envelopes.)
- Glue Stick.
- Sharpie.
- Washi Tape or Sticker.
- Bows or Festive Decor. (Optional)
Tools:
- Scissors.
- Paper Cutter/Trimmer. (Optional)
How To make an envelope for gift cards
Step 1:

First you will need to fold the paper in half.
*Tip: turn paper to Landscape size (11″ x 8.5″). Then fold left to right.
Also, be sure that the corners match up before pressing the fold.

Once you create the fold, open the paper up and use the crease as a guide to cut in half. (One sheet of paper makes 2 envelopes.)
Step 2:

Secondly, fold paper upwards towards center. If you aren’t sure how big to make the pocket, use the gift card as a guide.
Step 3:

Thirdly, add glue to the outer edges of the bottom fold and press together firmly.

Next fold the top corners towards the center and glue the flaps down. Then slide the gift card into the pocket.
Step 4:

Lastly, fold the top flap down and seal it with washi tape or a festive sticker!

Then, using a Sharpie, write a thoughtful note or greeting on the front of the envelope. You can also add a bow or festive decor to create something special!
