Hi y’all! I wanted to talk today about “finding refuge under His wings”- Psalm 91:4.
Every morning my mother-in-law texts a short devotional and this verse happen to be in one of those devotionals. But even before I received that text I had a sign hanging in my living room with that verse on it…

“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge.”

This is a beautiful verse. I instantly picture a momma bird gathering her babies under her wing to comfort them when danger is close.
The Lord does this for us as well. There are times when we are scared due to a trial we are facing or even because of the simple unknown.
With all of the chaos surrounding us it’s easy to get lost in the fear. The devil uses our surroundings to ensnare us in his trap. But the Bible says, He has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) Whenever we feel the fear and pressure from the world weighing in on us we can always find refuge UNDER HIS WINGS!
Finding refuge
There are many ways to finding refuge under His wings.
First and foremost- prayer! Prayer is our line of communication to the Lord. He even hears the smallest of whispers and cares about the smallest of issues.
Secondly- read the Bible. After all, the Bible is God’s written word. This is His way of communicating with us. I know people that have actually “heard” God speak to them, however, I have not. So, the Bible is where I go when I need His answers.
Thirdly- talk to your pastor or a friend. They can help point you in the right direction with scripture, encourage you, as well as pray for you.
And lastly, remove whatever is instigating that fear (eg. social media, T.V., magazines, or even people that speak only negativity.) When we remove ourselves from the things that make us fearful it’s a lot easier to move towards the peace that the Lord offers.
So, I encourage you today, if you are struggling and feel like a frightened baby bird to let the Lord pull you in under His wings. He will shield you from the worries of the world and give you peace to carry on through your tomorrow!
